Why Consumers Shouldn't Have to Choose Between GPT and Claude

Picking a subscription is picking a model for every question you will ask for the next year. That is a strange way to buy intelligence.

Nobody chooses one search engine result. Nobody picks a single road and uses it for every journey. Yet the standard way to buy AI is to commit to one lab and route every question you ever have through it.

The cost of the choice

Most people end up with a model that is excellent at some of their work and mediocre at the rest. Power users solve this by paying for two or three subscriptions and manually deciding which tab to open. That works, and it is an absurd amount of overhead for something that should be invisible.

What good looks like

  • One place to ask.
  • The strongest model for that specific question, chosen automatically.
  • One bill, not three.
  • No requirement to keep up with which lab shipped what this month.

The model layer is becoming infrastructure. Infrastructure should be something you use, not something you have to have an opinion about.
